Olusegun Adeyinka Emosu was born on Wednesday September 13th 1967, @ St Mary's Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. His parents were late prince Christopher Sunday Adeniye Emosu, and Mrs Margaret Iyabo Emosu. Both parents hailed from Ikenne-Remo, Ogun state Nigeria. Olusegun started his primary education at the Methodist Primary School 1, Ososami, Ibadan, in 1973. After completing the 6 year primary education, he proceeded to the prestigious and the oldest secondary school in Ijebu land, often referred to as "Ijebus' Pride"- Ijebu-Ode Grammar School. This was between 1979 and 1984.
After his secondary education, he returned to his Ibadan base, where he attended Ibadan Grammar School, for his Higher School Certificate otherwise known as Advanced Level. This was between 1984 and 1986. All along, between 1984 and 1986, all efforts to gain university admission proved abortive. Eventually, by 1988, he was able to scale through to tertiary institution. As at this time he had attempted the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB), five years, non-stop. His university education eventually took him to the "most sought-after university in Nigeria, the university of Ilorin.
The repeated roadblocks he faced seeking university admission made him drop the idea of his reading law, a profession he aspired to, with focus on becoming one of the most brilliant lawyers in Nigeria, with his eyes on becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), on the long run. As a last resort, he was given an option to choose between Performing Arts and Christian Religious Studies. He chose the latter, with the hope of pursuing it to professoral level. At Unilorin, he was taught by brilliant scholars and professors in all the classes he took. One of such professors is the current Chief Executive of the JAMB, professor I O Oloyede. For the four years in college, he excelled in virtually all the courses he took, including Christian Studies, (his major), with his strength on the two core languages associated with his discipline: Hebrew and Greek. He took electives in African Traditional Religion (ATR), English language and English Literature. At a point, he was a university scholar before the program was canceled.
At the end of the four years, he graduated with Second Class (Honors), Upper Division, the best so far since the inception of the school. He was promised a Graduate Assistanship position by his department immediately after the one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps- though it was a verbal promise. He did his NYSC at Government Day Secondary School, Pella, in the Hong local government of Adamawa state. On his return from the service, he resumed his M A program in his previous department. However, the department did not absorb him for the Graduate Assistanship promised two years before. Along the line, his father had suggested to him the need to go for his PHd right after completing his MA program- still on the father's bill. He brushed aside the idea on the grounds that he wanted to work for a while, make some earnings, so that his parents can eat of their labor over him- a way of upholding one of the African fundamental cultures that place premium on children taking care of their parents, as a way of attracting parental blessings. Hence, the need to work a while before pursuing his studies to Phd. In addition, it would be an avenue to taking a break from about 24 unbroken years of academic rigors. After completing his Post Graduate studies, he headed for Ibadan, and after series of job search, between Lagos and Ibadan, he settled with the LORD's Nursery Primary School, Ibadan. There he met his wife, Adenike Adeoti. After about two years of courtship, they got married at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mount Zion parish, Bolumole, Ibadan, on Saturday April 17th, 1999. It was attended by several friends, colleagues, family members from home and abroad. It was an ocassion that was equally blessed with the presence of many pastors within and outside of the RCCG, including Assistant General Overseer (A G O) Pastor M O Ojo, of blessed memory and the chairman of the occasion, pastor Kunle Akindoju of the RCCG King's Court parish, Roswell, GA.
Segun Emosu was ordained a Deacon of the Redeemed Christain Church of God at the annual convention of August 2003, at the Redememtion City, Lagos Nigeria. Before then, he had been appointed the parish pastor of the RCCG City of Refuge parish, Ibadan, where several testimonies, to the glory of God, including his family relocation to the United States, trailed his calling- without paying attention to this move of God as a testament that God needed him behind the pulpit. He was there as the pastor in charge until few years after, his family relocated to the USA. He was subsequently ordained Assistant Pastor and full Pastor, respectively, in Dallas Texas. On getting to the USA, he added a degree to his portfolio. He did MBA with specialization in Health Care Management at the University of Phoenix. Years after, he added some certifications in Scrum Master and Business Analyst. With this, he worked with the Wellstar Hopsital and Penn State University, as Business Analyst. He also holds a license in Accident, Sickness and Life Insurance. In addition, he is actively licensed as a Real Estate Sales Person in the state of Georgia. He also had a five year stint in the rideshare business- Uber and Lfyt, which he dropped on Wednesday November 3, 2021, after coming out unscathed from a fatal accident, occasioned by a hit and run driver. With over eleven thousand rides in the rideshare business, he maintained a perfect 5.0 ratings ! At a point, he combined Amazon flex delivery job with the rideshare job. Before all these, he had a working experience with the Bank of America where he was terminated January 2014, running into the eight year of his working with the financial institution. Overnight that day, he had a revelation of this termination, but dismissed it with a wave of the hand, as one of those things. Few hours of resuming for work that day, it happened "exactly" the way he saw the revelation.
He is the pioneering pastor of the RCCG Rehoboth parish in Lithonia Georgia. Over the years, at Rehoboth parish, the LORD is confirming His call on him, with signs, wonders and testimonies, to the glory of God. It was a call he accepted after years of reluctance and and disobedience to the voice of the LORD. Ironically, the inkling to his calling was first brought to his notice in Ibadan Nigeria, when he was preparing to go for his Youth Service in Adamawa state. A man of God had told him, "i see you become a minister" , which he took literally as in "political minister." This sounded reasonable and timely anyway, considering the fact that he was preparing to go for further studies which would place him at a vantage position whenever he eventually would be appointed a " Minister of Whatever" ... He never saw it as a minister of the Word... Further confirmations, and personal convinctions , began to come in quick succession almost immediately after arriving the US. To the glory of God, the rest is history.
His interests are reading and writing and getting familar with people's historical background. Little wonder, his, teachings and messages are laced with a touch of "academics." Before now, he has two books to his credit, "105 Prevailing Prayers" (2015) and "Deferred Curse: It's Concepts, Operations and the way Out" (2016). He also has a Social Media prayer link, tiltled, "A Prayer For You Today", that has spanned over 14 unbroken years. In additon, he added a blog to the spirtual tabloid, which debuted in March 2021, on a montly basis. This is the "Word on The Globe" . From here, he dishes out rich spiritual nuggets that meet his audience globally, on a monthly basis. It is equally a read that gets the audience clamoring for more and even with demands from the readers to make it a weekly publication.
Olusegun is married with four boys: Emmanuel, Oluwadarasimi, Adelana and Oluwamayomikun.
Please, sit down and relax as i welcome you to this land mark occasion, on behalf of my dad, pastor Segun Emosu. God bless you all.
